The bottom is a field of octagon hobnail, separated by rows of pyramids. The glass has an ever so faint tint of lavender which indicates the use of Manganese Dioxide, an additive used long ago to make a more clear glass. It was found that over time, with repeated exposure to sunlight the Manganese Dioxide will manifest at this lavender color, and will become even more pronounced with age. This bowl is approximately 8 inches in diameter, 3 7/8 inches tall, and it weighs approximately 2 pounds 11 ounces. Condition- Considering it's age, this bowl is in excellent condition.
It does have one issue we must mention, there is one chip on the inside edge of one of the teeth in the sawtooth edge. Some may take issue with the lavender tint, but it is my feeling that it adds additional character to the piece. If you are a collector of vintage cut glass, this bowl will make an excellent addition to your collection.
